James

Community Engagement Manager

I have been working in the disability sector since 2013, having previously worked in assisting vocational training in supported workplaces. I enjoyed this work a lot, especially seeing people learn more skills and become more independent in their homes and community.

Since moving to Pathways to Care and being involved with the NDIS, I have thoroughly enjoyed helping people learn more about the NDIS, what services and supports are available to them, and how these can have a positive effect on their lives. My experience of being the first point of contact, through the intake process as well as being a Plan Manager has seen my skills diversify allowing me to better support participants.

In the past year I made the move into the Community Engagement team. The move has really allowed me to combine my customer service skills, my love for a chat and NDIS knowledge into one role. It is very rewarding going out into the community helping new providers and participants navigate the system.

Pathways to Care is a great working environment, as all the staff like to collaborate and share new ideas or knowledge with the rest of the team. It has been great to see the growth of diversity and knowledge amongst our team as we continue to strive to be a leader in NDIS services.

I very much enjoy having a chat with participants, hearing about what they are up to, as well as how they have been utilising their funding. With my new position, I can now extend my support to the wider community, which is very rewarding.
